Production Coordinator- ASTC

The Production Coordinator is responsible for facilitating rehabilitation and vocational training services which provide people who have different abilities opportunities to work with integrated teams and receive work support as needed—achieving the highest level of independence possible. Responsible for communicating with customers, transportation vendors and employees to prepare production orders for assembly and packaging, to ship and receive raw materials and finished product, to instruct employees on line set-up and work steps, and to check for quality and ensure accurate billing. Tracks production supplies and finished product, conducts time studies standards and reviews production lines for efficiency and effectiveness. Creates and updates internal production reports and shipping bills and reviews, and processes external receiving documents

Job Functions:

  • Communicate with customers:  Gather assembly/packaging product orders, resolve product supply shortages and needs and coordinate with internal and external transportation to receive or deliver supply material and finished product.   
  • Set up production line requirements and train staff:  Evaluate customer orders and deadlines and assist in developing the scope of work including production tasks and line set-up.  Coordinate moving product by forklift, pallet jack or by hand to prepare production lines.  Assist in the development of jigs and fixtures to aid with line efficiency and quality. Train staff on customer order specifications including quality control measures.  Check on quality compliance and provide feedback to staff and clients.
  •  Track production supplies and finished product:  Use inventory tracking software and scanning devices to track in-coming and out-going supplies and finished product.  Assist with maintaining job codes and work orders in the system. 
  • Conduct time study standards for piece work and review production line costs:  Assist with setting up and documenting piece rate time studies for new projects.  Review tally records and verify accurate use of job codes and work orders.  
  •  Create and update internal production reports and shipping bills and review and process external receiving documents:  Complete daily and weekly production and delivery reports.  Generate billing for finished product and for shipping bills of lading.  Review and check receiving reports of incoming supplies.  Resolve report and billing discrepancies as needed.
  • Supervise Production Line Leads:  Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating and disciplining production staff, process staff masters and timekeeping.  Conduct daily production and safety meetings and individual consultations.  Communicate regularly with staff on customer updates and workplace changes.

Job Requirement:

Experience: High School Diploma or GED plus 1 year of related experience in the contract packaging/secondary packaging production field. Must be familiar with line set ups and have BOL (Bill of Lading) knowledge. Familiarity with inventory tracking and quality control preferred. 

Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Background Checks & Driving: Must pass criminal background check.

Must pass various State and Federal registry checks.

Must pass DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check.

Must pass driving history check and Company policy criteria, maintain valid driver’s license and be 21 or older to drive. Company travel using personal insured vehicle is required.
